
OSTIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE
This refugee is located at the stretch of 200 m of beach between Punta India and the mouth of the Nosara River and includes the town of Ostional. This refugee belongs to the Canton of Santa Cruz, Province of Guanacaste.
Its importance lies in the protection that afforded a refugee to the wildlife in the area that includes the ridley and the leatherback sea turtles and a wide variety of seabirds.
The vegetation of the refugee is mostly the trees and plants typical of sandy soil, as the coconut, real palm and pinecones among others.
As regards its fauna, there is great variety of marine and terrestrial birds, sea turtles, mammals, reptiles and other marine animals.
Park facilities and hours
There is a ranger station and a biological field station at playa Ostional. Bilingual guides are available for turtle tours.
The ranger station is open from 8am to 4pm.
